Not long ago we reported that actress Lena Waithe was working on getting her project ‘Twenties’ to TV. The former Master Of None star has been hard at work as it has now been announced that TBS will pick up ‘Twenties’ as a pilot. This new deal means Waithe is inching closer and closer to getting a story loosely based on her life to the small screen. Waithe recently premiered newest series The Chi on Showtime.
Waithe wrote the series back in 2009, produced it as a web series in 2013, then developed it as a pilot for BET back in 2014. Now that she has an Emmy Award under her belt, hopefully this time around Twenties will finally make it to TV. “I always wanted to tell a story where a queer black woman was the protagonist and I’m so grateful to TBS for giving me a platform to tell this story,” she said on the project.
